Amelia Ismore
The world of entertainment was introduced to Amelia at an early age of five. That year she not only modeled for Ebony Magzine she was also crowned "Queen of the Liliponds" (Her ballet group.) It was then that Amelia made a promise to herself that the world of entertainm ent was her destiny. It wasn't until she graduated from Boston College and moved to NYC that she actually began fulfilling her dreams. Her first profession al gig in the business was modeling for Soft Sheen hair products. As Northeast Soft Sheen representa tive Amelia would travel along the eastern border, modeling at hair shows and convention s. This experience let her to enter and win the "Faces Going Places" Modeling competitio n in New York City sponsored by Grace Del Marco Modeling Agency & Ophelia De Vore (charm school.) Which was her first modeling contract. Although modeling was enjoyable Amelia wanted to pursure her first love... music. She started singing background for various studio sessions. It was in the studio where she met her former husband. Together they founded a production company and worked with artist such as Papa Chuck (Pendulum) LinQue (formerly known as Isis of X-Clan, Elektra Records) McLyte (Atlantic Records) to name a few. Yet submitting tracks, producing wasn't all Amelia aspired. Amelia's next job was A&R Assistant for the black music department of Atlantic Records. There she worked with & for Kevin Woodley, Syvia Rhone, CB, Doug Morris,Cri ag Kaullman and recording artists such as Brandy, Gerald Levert, Glen Jones, Original Flavor(tha t included Jay-Z on a single), INTRO and Roberta Flack just to name a few. After she signed her first group SHADES to Atlantic Records she also was responsibl e for other signings such as Channel Live (Capitol/E MI), OCM (Qwest Records) and Ram-Z (TVT Records). However after a few years at Atlantic, Amelia felt she needed to learn more about the contractua l business of the music business. So she left Atlantic and took the position of Coordinato r of A&R Administra tion at Gee Street Records. There she learned about contracts and handled all the recording budgets and credits for the artist on the label such as Doug E Fresh, PM Dawn, Wu-Tang's Gravedigga 's, Amber Sunshower as well as reggae artists Beenie Man & Luciano. Two years later Amelia started her own company: Adroit! (Marketing , Manangemen t & Consulting ) The first group the company handled was Makeba Mooncycle recorded with Nona Hendryx, was placed on Rhino/Atla ntic Records compliatio n honoring women in hip hop called; "Phat Bets & Bra Straps." She also toured Dakar, Africa, had a national ad in Vibe Magazine and was a feature performer on thePBS children's television show;"Betw een the Lions." Her next artist was the Mountain Brothers. They were signed to Ruffhouse Records. Right after being signed the group asked to be dropped,th ey hired Amelia as their manager and the rest was history. The group toured across the nation, charted on CMJ's top forty charts, secured both a national Sprite and Nike commercial as well as a national print ad in Rolling Stone Magazine with Marvel Comics. They was also featured inPeople Magazine and solkd ofver 50,000 records with no marketing budget. Yet after having the compay for a couple of months Amelia was asked to help one of her largest account: Ruff Ryders Entertainm ent. She first started as a consultant and then got hired as General Manager of the label during their most successful years. However, during all that time being behind the scenes Amelia was also a VJ for a television program called;"Wh at's the 411?" During the time Amelia filmed the show she realized that in front of the camera is where she really wanted to be and felt most comfortabl e. Which brings us to Amelia's newest venture in the world of entertainment. The world of acting and interviewi ng. She currently has celebritie s such as Morgan Freeman, Danny Glover,Kur t Russell, DMX, Snoop Dogg and many more on her list of interviews . Succinctly Amelia aspires to pick up where Arsenio Hall left off and one day have her own late night television show. In the meantime check out her interviews on HHNLive, In foucs Magazine and her my space blogs.
